A good Thaim had by all!
I had dinner this evening with a few friends in Ruen Thai, on Patrick’s Street (right above Boot’s). I’m not going to insult anyone’s intelligence by saying what kind of food they serve there, but I will say that it is very, very scrumptious food indeed. We had a three-person combo starter, which boasted such beauties as wanton dumplings, spring rolls, prawns wrapped in sausage meat (savage, if you ask me, but my friends didn’t agree!), satay chicken.. You get the picture. For main course, I chose a chicken dish, which came with mushrooms, garlic, sesame oil, and an oyster sauce. In a word — savage. It was absolutely beautiful, and the sauce was yummy with my massive plate of fried rice. To finish off, I had a raspberry swirl cheesecake — no Cheesecake Factory (now that’s one for another post!) – but it certainly did the trick this evening. All in all, a very nice meal. I’m still pretty full five hours later! It’s rather pricey, so definitely a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of thing, but I highly recommend a trip to Ruen Thai — as far as Cork restaurants go, you could certainly do a lot worse!
